A large part of the Brazilian fruit production concentrates in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the geographic centre of the Mercosur - Common Market of the South. With a distinct European influence, the state accounts for 7.3% of the GDP, thus being the third Brazilian fruit producer.
Through the brand South Brazilian Fruit, supported by SEBRAE/RS - Small Business Development Service of Rio Grande do Sul - and APEX - Brazilian Export Promotion Agency, we are working on improving the image and promotion of fruits such as strawberries, persimmons, apples, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and peaches.
The project includes actions to enhance product quality through a qualifying programme for the integrated production, aiding producers to get organised and associated, implementation of a shoot standardisation process, regular product quality control, as well as search for market opportunities and information.
It is the objective of the South Brazilian Fruit project to promote business opportunities for companies in search of markets abroad.
